WALNUT – Long-time Walnut Elementary School Principal Timmy Bryant died Monday morning at Magnolia Hospital in Corinth, sources said.

Funeral arrangements were incomplete Monday afternoon. McBride Funeral Home in Ripley is in charge.

Efforts to reach the family for more information weren’t successful early Monday afternoon

Bryant, 46, had been principal at the school for 12 years, school officials said earlier this year.

North Tippah Superintendent Junior Wooten said he would be in charge of the school until other arrangements are made.

According to school officials grief counselors will be on hand this week for students.

Walnut Elementary School, located next to the high school, has a population of about 221 students in grades K-6.
