Ripley surplus to go toward paving streets

RIPLEY – Ripley aldermen took care of the following items of business during their meeting Tuesday, July 6. The board:

--Approved minutes of the board’s June 1 regular meeting and June 7 special board meeting.

--Approved a $350 advertisement to appear in the Southern Sentinel’s FYI publication later this month.

--Approved Lisa Mauney and Kathi Watson to attend the certification program for municipal clerks, tax collectors and deputies in Hattiesburg.

--Approved a $250 contribution to the Tippah County Development Foundation.

--Approved declaring a surplus of $146,483.98 in the city’s natural gas system. The money will be used for paving city streets in a subdivision off Cotton Gin Road and a subdivision on Miss. 4, according to Mayor Kerry W. Hill.

--Set a public hearing for the board’s August meeting about cleaning up property at 408 Hazel Road. Another Hazel Road property has been cleaned up, and no public hearing was set on it.

--Heard a city financial report from Charles Davis of Lindsey Davis and Associates.

--Heard a zoning report.

--Adjourned.
