Driver Buster Ray Burch, 22, of Dumas, and another passenger, Kelly Hill, 27, of County Road 620, were unhurt, according to investigating deputy Tommy Mason.
Burch was transported to the Tippah County Jail following the wreck. Mason said charges and a probation violation are pending, and the wreck is under investigation.
Mason said the northbound 1997 GMC 4X4 regular cab truck overturned, ejecting the young woman, who had been sitting next to the door on the passenger side. The vehicle came to rest on its side atop her.
She was transported to the Tippah County Hospital Emergency Room and pronounced dead there, Tippah County Coroner David Hubbard said.
Authorities received the first 911 call about the crash about 7:35 p.m. The wreck happened just past Pine Grove School. Dry Creek volunteer firefighters assisted at the scene.
Fragmentary information was received about two other wrecks in recent days, but efforts to learn more details weren’t successful this week.
