Four senior officers gave their farewell speeches. The Peoples Bank, represented by Roger Childs, presented Christopher Ralph and Lanna Witt with $50 savings account. Michael Pruitt recognized students on their accomplishments for federation, district, and state level competitions.
New officers were chosen days before and were announced before the close of the banquet. The new senior officers are as follows: Bethany Adams, Gage Pannell, Allison Hurt, Kelsey Hefner, Ben Adamson, Allen Bennett, and Lori Hurt. The new junior officers are as follows: Bruce Miller, Kayla Mauney, Ethan Nance, Julie Wentz, Payton Brackett, and Tyler Presley.
After the banquet, new alumni officers were elected. These officers are the following: Chris Mauney, Randy Presley, Nicole Davis Carol Ann Hurt, Tonya Adams, Cindy Jones, and Rene Hefner.
The 2009-2010 junior Opening and Closing Team represented the school at the state convention June 2. On June 1 a group of 11 students traveled to Starkville for the Mississippi FFA Convention. The junior Opening and Closing team didn't place but represented Pine Grove well. On June 3, Dylan Hurt and Ben Adamson competed in the talent competition. They played guitar and sang "Jumper" by Third Eye Blind.
They also had a very special present in mind for one of the other students on the trip. It was her 17th birthday, and they had the National Officer from Michigan to help them. After they got through performing, the National Officer asked the girl to stand in her chair while the crowd sang "Happy Birthday." The National Officer ate supper with the chapter at Oby's.
During the trip, students attended a workshop, walked around in the career show, attended all the sessions, and worked out at the Sanderson Center.
Also on June 3, Tonya Adams was elected as a 3-year Alumni Council member. She was then elected vice-president and will be the president the next year.
Chapter members thanked District Superintendent Frank Campbell, Principal Tony Elliott, and all the school board members for their support.
