ST trustees recognize school nurse for state honors

RIPLEY – The South Tippah School Board took care of the following items of business during its meeting Monday, May 10. Trustees:

--Recognized Rosemary Reed as the Mississippi School Nurse of the Year.

--Recognized Billy Dixon as the district’s Parent of the Year.

--Recognized Ripley Middle School teacher Karla Kuhl and Ripley Elementary School teacher Sharon Meeks as National Board Certified teachers.

--Approved a donation to Blue Mountain School from Tippah County Growers of 47 plants and shrubs valued at $259.780.

--Approved a series of fund raisers. They included the RHS baseball team selling Cow Pattie tickets, car tags and decals to raise money for new uniforms, baseballs and any other equipment needed. The project begins June 5 with Cow Pattie sales, and the other items will be sold during the school year. T-shirts and caps will also be sold this summer, with the proceeds going toward new uniforms.

--Approved a Ripley Middle School Cheerleader Boosters end of year dance May 20.

--Approved a RMS Cheer Boosters softball tournament Saturday, May 15.

--Approved a series of field trips by Ripley Elementary School and the Ripley Boys&Girls Club to attend Krazy Skates, Tupelo Buffalo Park, Tupelo Health Works, Pink Palace in Memphis, and the Walnut Swimming Pool. Pine Grove kindergarteners were approved to attend Kidz Kingdom in Dumas, RMS boys basketball team was approved to go to Myrtle Middle School for a basketball camp. RMS AR 5th and 6th reading students were approved to attend Krazy Skates, and the RMS Band was approved to attend a concert festival in Tupelo.
