April 26, 1990: Twelve Northeast Mississippi Community College football players signed senior college scholarships to continue their football career. Among those were Ripley’s Rolandus Cox, who signed with Cumberland College in Williamsburg, Ky.

April 28, 2000: Two prep head coaching positions in North Tippah School District remain unfilled. At Walnut High School, officials were looking for someone to replace Mike Hern, who resigned from his post as head boys’ and girls’ basketball coach earlier this Spring.

Ricky Bates resigned from his head football position at Falkner High School in February. However, in March officials began searching for a replacement although Bates applied to the North Tippah School Board to rescind his resignation.

April 30, 2005: The All-County Baseball Team was released. Top honors went to MVP Neil Taylor-Ripley, Pitcher of the Year Justin Stroupe-Pine Grove, Rookie of the Year Spencer Gates-Falkner, and Coach of the Year Carl Rowell-Falkner.

Rounding out the team were Cory Porterfield-Walnut, Sam Myers-Falkner, Josh Chapman-Ripley, Zane Bryan-Pine Grove, Cody Stroupe-Falkner, Kyle Hill-Pine Grove, Josh Kirkman-Walnut, Blake Voyles-Ripley, John Stephens-Ripley, Caleb James-Walnut, and Mark Hunt-Walnut.
