--Heard from Ripley Middle School Principal James Storey and PTO President Scott Rayburn, who discussed a project they want to see done at Ripley Middle School. That project is the construction of an access road FROM WHERE to the Band Hall parking lot.
--Approved a series of fundraisers. They included Ripley High School band students selling Christmas-themed wrapping paper and Christmas décor through April 30, for delivery in mid-September; a Ripley Middle School PTO penny drive and T-shirt sales through April 15.
--Approved field trips including a Blue Mountain High School Science Club trip to the Buffalo Park in Tupelo May 11; a Blue Mountain 8th grade Gear Up trip to New Albany April 18 and Jackson April 21; a Pine Grove 4th grade trip to Healthworks in Tupelo April 21; a Pine Grove 5th grade trip April 23 to the U. S. Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, Ala.; a Pine Grove 2nd grade trip to Healthworks in Tupelo April 22; a Ripley Elementary School 1st grade trip to Chuck E. Cheese in Tupelo May 5; an RES 2nd grade trip to the same place May 4; RES 3rd and 4th grade trip to the same place April 30.
-- Agreed to develop a policy for electronic devices for both students and teachers. The policy will be designed to avoid disruption of the educational environment, avoid disrupting an employee’s ability to do their job, and avoid invading the privacy of students or district employees.
--Agreed to develop a policy for proper conduct between employees and students. The policy is designed to avoid inappropriate fraternization between employees and students on a personal level either on campus or off campus, and inappropriate fraternization via the Internet between employees and students.
--Revised a board policy concerning meeting agendas.
--Approved job descriptions for the position of principal and federal programs coordinator.
--Accepted the highest of four bids – for $314 from Dale Roberson – for purchase of district surplus property, specifically, a greenhouse at Ripley High School.
