A pitching duel between Blue Devil pitcher Kyle Stephenson (6-0) and Ripley’s Jonathan Morrison (4-3)--both went the distance with 12 Ks apiece--saw its only offense in the third inning.
In the inning, the Blue Devils took advantage of two walks issued by Morrison to the first two batters, as Jerion Jones slapped a double to score a run and WHO sent a sacrifice fly to left field scoring the second run. Stephenson did the rest to secure the victory.
Zack Zones had two of the just three hits for the Tigers, who fell to 10-9 (2-5 1-3A). Morrison allowed only four hits to the Blue Devils, who improved to 14-7-1 (7-0)
Monday, the Tigers defeated West Union 11-7 in a game that was rescheduled because of the Randy Owen concert at the RHS Event center.
Coty Childs (2-1) picked up the win, as the Tigers exploded for a eight-run third inning. They had 10 hits, with multiple hits coming from Tyler Cox, Jonathan Morrison (two doubles), Chase Chapman and Coley Reno.
The Tigers travel to Myrtle High School today at 6:30 p.m.
