Thursday April 12, 1990: The Ripley High School tennis team—coached by Eddie Conner--improved to 3-4 after picking up wins against Okolona and Alcorn Central High Schools. The Tigers won four of five matches against Okolona and all five against Alcorn Central.

Against Okolona, Ripley’s Alan Taylor and Mimi Long picked up singles’ victories (6-3,6-2). In doubles’ action, Starke Ferrell and David Ketchum posted a victory (6-1,6-1) for the boys, while Cynthia Cross and Patty Walker fell in three sets (6-7, 6-1, 7-6) in girls’ action. Shane Windham and Mimi Long won the mixed doubles match by default.

Wednesday April 12, 2000: Terry Allan was announced as the new head football coach at Ripley High School after spending the last four seasons at New Albany.

Until that point in his career, Allen had an overall record of 140-71-1, which included stops at Neshoba Central, Bruce and Water Valley. Allen was widely known for leading the 1990 Water Valley team to a perfect 15-0 record and the Class 3A state title.

Wednesday April 13, 2005: Jonathan Hopper of Ripley braved gusting winds to win the Gumtree Open Skeet Shoot at Whitetail Ridge Outdoors. Hopper finished the four-gun event with a combined score of 387. He won the high overall title as well as the 12-gauge event.
