We join the community in recognizing the Pine Grove High School FFA chapter's accomplishments this year. Among those achievements:
--The Pine Grove FFA Chapter participated in the North Central FFA Federation annual Contest on Feb. 17 in Houston, and took home many awards.
--On Feb. 23, The Pine Grove FFA Chapter traveled to Jackson, to the Annual Legislators and Sponsors Breakfast. The breakfast is held each year in February to honor the legislators and sponsors that help make FFA possible in the state of Mississippi. Rep. Greg Ward gave the group a tour of the State Capitol and Sen. Bill Stone acknowledged the presence of the group on the Senate Floor.
--The Pine Grove FFA Chapter competed in the annual North District Contest on March 12, and placed in Tractor Operations and Maintenance, and Junior Opening and Closing. Both teams will compete on the state level on April 16, and the Junior Opening and Closing Team will compete in June at the State FFA Convention in Starkville.
All those involved in the FFA program deserve congratulations. In a very real sense, each student who takes part in FFA is a winner because the program offers each student the opportunity to better himself or herself by gaining real world useful knowledge about a variety of subjects.
The chapter results are a fine reflection on the students, their school and teachers, the school district, and this area.
Who says only bad news makes it into the newspaper?
