TIPPAH COUNTY--Earlier this week, Kyle Smith of the of the Peoples Bank announced that officials would meet with Tippah County high school seniors to announce the Tuition Guarantee program to Northeast Mississippi Community College. Officials from NEMCC, Northeast Mississippi Planning and Development, the Tippah County Board of Supervisors and city officials joined Smith in making the announcement.

Smith and the group announced the program to seniors at Walnut and Falkner High School Jan. 19. The same group announced the program to seniors at Blue Mountain, Pine Grove and Ripley High Schools Wednesday Jan. 20.

Tippah County’s program represents the combined efforts of the Board of Supervisors, the cities of Blue Mountain, Ripley, and Walnut, the Peoples Bank, and NMPDD. The 2010 seniors will be the first group with the opportunity to take advantage of the program for the 2010 fall semester.

“Our board of supervisors and our city officials are to be commended for having the vision to approve this program,“ said Smith. “It represents a unique cooperative effort from city and county government and local industry to help further the education of our young people.”

Prospective students must comply with a set of standard requirements to be eligible for the tuition guarantee. Parents and students may contact the principals and counselors at their respective high schools for details. NEMCC can also answer any questions concerning the program.
