Blue Mtn. woman dies after Saturday morning crash

BLUE MOUNTAIN - A one-car wreck on Miss. 15, approximately three miles south of Blue Mountain claimed the life of a Tippah County woman Saturday morning, according to the Mississippi Highway Patrol.

State Troopers responded to the wreck about 10:50 a.m.

It appeared Loretta K Young, 43, of Blue Mountain, was southbound in a 2001 Honda Passport when she lost control of her vehicle. The vehicle overturned several times ejecting Young from the vehicle, according to A Mississippi Highway Patrol spokesman.

She was airlifted to The Med in Memphis, where she later died from her injuries. She was not wearing a seat-belt.

A 9-year-old passenger in the vehicle received minor injuries. She was not hospitalized. She was wearing her seat-belt.

The Mississippi Highway Patrol, Troop F, investigated at least 15 traffic wrecks during the Holiday period which ran through midnight Sunday, Nov. 29, according to Trooper Ray Hall.
